About
Umuagu is one of the five quarters (Ebos) of Asaba Kingdom in Delta State, Nigeria, founded by Agu, one of the grandsons of Nnebisi, the founder of Asaba. According to Asaba oral tradition, Nnebisi's grandsons—Ezei, Ugbomanta, Agu, Ajaji and Onaje—united to form the original quarters known as 'Ahaba ebo ite'nani,' which eventually became the five present-day quarters: Umuezei, Ugbomanta, Umuagu, Umuaji and Umuonaje. The descendants of Iyagba, another grandson, are said to have been absorbed into Umuagu. Specific biographical details about Agu himself, including his lifespan, are not documented in available sources.
