About
Olu Esigie was an Itsekiri traditional ruler who served as the 5th Olu of the Warri Kingdom in present-day Delta State, Nigeria. He succeeded his father Ogiame Olu Ojoluwa after his demise and was crowned Ogiame Esigie at Ode-Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiri, ascending the throne in 1570 and reigning until 1597, when he passed on. He was succeeded by his son Olu Atorongboye (Olu Sebastian), the sixth Olu of Warri, who became the first Christian Olu of the Warri Kingdom. Not much is recorded about Esigie himself, though he is noted for having succeeded his father in the Ginuwa ruling line.
