About
Olu Erejuwa I was the 15th Olu of Warri, ruling the Kingdom of Warri (the Itsekiri kingdom in present-day Delta State, Nigeria) from approximately 1760 to 1795. He succeeded his father Olu Atogbuwa and took the title Ogiame Erejuwa I, also bearing the Portuguese name Sebastiao Manuel Octobia. He expanded the kingdom politically and commercially, using ties with the Portuguese to further Warri's independence from Benin and extend control over a wider area. He was succeeded by his son, Olu Akengbuwa.
