About

Aku was the second Obi of Ogwashi-Uku, ascending the throne after the death of his father, Adaigbo, the founder and first Obi of the kingdom. His reign belongs to the early period of Ogwashi-Uku history, a time of consolidation and expansion for the Enuani (Anioma) people in what is now Delta State, Nigeria. As the son of the revered patriarch, Aku inherited a nascent but growing state and continued the work of establishing royal authority and cultural identity among the dispersed settlements of the region. While much of his personal rule remains undocumented in Western sources, oral tradition remembers him as a key figure in the dynasty’s early succession, bridging the founding generation with the later ebullience of the kingdom.
