About
Olu Ijijen, also known as Ogbowuru, was the 2nd Olu of Warri and a son of Olu Ginuwa I, the founder of the Warri Kingdom. He succeeded his father and is historically credited with moving the kingdom's capital from Ijala to Ode-Itsekiri (Big Warri), where he unified the indigenous Itsekiri communities, including Omadino, Ureju, Ugborodo, and Inorin, into the Kingdom of Iwere (Warri). He reigned in the early 16th century and was buried at the Ijala Royal Cemetery, which became the burial ground for subsequent Olus.
