About
Erejuwa II was a Nigerian traditional ruler and paramount leader of the Itsekiri people who served as the 18th Olu of the Warri Kingdom, holding the title Ogiame Erejuwa II. He reigned from 1951 to 1964 and again from 1966 to 1986, succeeding his father Ginuwa II, who was a great-grandson of Olu Akengbuwa (the last Olu before a long interregnum, who died in 1848). He is widely remembered for placing an ancestral curse on Nigeria over alleged injustices done to him, a curse that was publicly reversed by his grandson Ogiame Atuwatse III at his 2021 coronation as the 21st Olu of Warri.
