Ogiame Atuwatse II, born Godwin Toritseju Emiko on September 26, 1945, in Ode-Itsekiri, Warri South, Delta State, was the 19th Olu of Warri and paramount leader of the Itsekiri people. A lawyer by profession, he was crowned on May 2, 1987, succeeding his father Erejuwa II, in a ceremony notably attended by Chief Obafemi Awolowo just a week before Awolowo's death. He reigned until his death in Lagos in September 2015 at the age of 70 and was succeeded by his brother Ikenwoli. He received the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) national honour.
