About
Omadoghwuo was the second Orodje (traditional ruler) of the Okpe Kingdom, an Urhobo state in present-day Delta State, Nigeria. He succeeded his father, Okpe I, the founder of the kingdom. While little is recorded about his individual life or specific achievements, his reign represents an early phase in the consolidation of the Okpe monarchy, following the foundational work of his father. As a link between the kingdom’s origins and its later development, his memory is preserved primarily through royal genealogy and oral tradition within Okpe. The title ‘Orodje’ itself denotes the paramount royal authority among the Okpe people, and early holders like Omadoghwuo helped establish the institutional norms of the throne.
