About

The Dein of Agbor is the paramount traditional ruler of the Agbor Kingdom, home to the Ika people in present-day Delta State, Nigeria. The royal lineage is ancient, with a succession of Deins governing the kingdom and preserving its customs. Ojeh II is listed as the ninth Dein, believed to have reigned in the early 18th century, around 1710 to 1740. As with many pre-colonial monarchs of the region, detailed historical records of his personal reign are scarce, but he is noted as a custodian of the kingdom's traditions and a link in the continuous dynastic chain. His era fell within a period of relative stability and cultural consolidation for the Ika communities, before increased European contact in the later 18th and 19th centuries.
