About

Ika II is remembered as the 12th Dein (traditional monarch) of the Agbor Kingdom, an Ika (Anioma) state in present-day Delta State, Nigeria. The Dein serves as the paramount ruler and spiritual custodian of the Agbor people, a lineage extending back centuries. His reign is placed by oral tradition around the early nineteenth century, a period marked by regional trade, the lingering influence of the Benin Empire, and the broader disruptions of the transatlantic slave trade. Unfortunately, detailed chronicles of individual Agbor monarchs from this era are largely absent, and little beyond Ika II's place in the succession list has survived. His tenure contributed to the continuity of Agbor’s royal institutions during a time of indirect but profound historical currents.
