Osimili
About
Osimili became the 13th Obi (king) of Aboh, a Ukwuani kingdom on the lower Niger River in present-day Delta State, Nigeria, around 1880. He was the son of his predecessor, Obi Osei II. His reign unfolded during a transformative era when European colonial powers, especially the British, were consolidating control over the Niger Delta region. Aboh, strategically located along a major trade artery, had long been involved in commerce that included palm oil, and the kingdom under Osimili faced the realities of encroaching British administration following the Berlin Conference and the operations of the Royal Niger Company. Though specific details of his rule are not widely documented, he governed during the transition from precolonial sovereignty to the establishment of the Southern Nigeria Protectorate, a period that reshaped the political landscape of the Ukwuani people. He died around 1915.
