Oseh
Obi of Aboh
Aboh Kingdom
About
Oseh was the ninth Obi (king) of Aboh, an Ukwuani kingdom located on the lower Niger River in present-day Delta State, Nigeria. He succeeded his father, Ogenu, and ruled from approximately 1740 to 1775, during the height of the Atlantic slave trade. His reign is remembered as a period of commercial prosperity and political consolidation, as Aboh became a major trading hub connecting the interior of Igboland with European merchants on the coast. Although details of his personal life are scant, oral traditions and early European accounts portray him as a shrewd diplomat and effective ruler whose policies strengthened the kingdom's position in the regional trade networks.
