The Okpe Kingdom is one of the major Urhobo political entities, with its seat in Orerokpe, and the Orodje is the paramount ruler. Esigie’s reign witnessed Nigeria’s transition from colonial rule to independence and the early post-independence years, a period of significant change in the region.
