About

Adedeji is recorded as the sixth Orodje (king) of the Okpe Kingdom, a prominent Urhobo traditional state in present-day Delta State, Nigeria. The Orodje serves as the paramount ruler and custodian of Okpe customs, presiding over a council of chiefs and representing the Okpe people. Very little documentary evidence survives from his reign, which is believed to fall within the twentieth century, a period of colonial administration and early Nigerian independence. He was the son of Agbe, a figure in the royal lineage. His tenure is preserved in oral tradition as part of the unbroken succession of the Okpe monarchy, which continues to play a significant role in the cultural and social life of the Urhobo.
